The Challenge

Building Sound Where Sound Wasn't Planned: The New Hope venue is not a standard house of worship. It is an old church structure with extensive wood construction and a dome shape, which presents unique acoustic challenges as a wood heavy shell naturally amplifies sound, requiring careful treatment to achieve crystal clear audio for the congregation.

The project began as a full gut renovation. Most AV teams wait until the build is finished before stepping in. Nick owner operator at ToneProper.com and his team made the decision to step in from day one. They worked before, during, and after the contractors were on site, ensuring that every trade was aligned with the final AV vision rather than having to discover obstacles and oversights later on.

Our Solution

We didn't just show up and hang speakers. We engineered a complete worship center ecosystem designed to integrate modern technology into a historic architectural shell without halting or slowing the total renovation construction progress. Here is how we executed every phase of the project:

1. Acoustic Treatment for a Wood Dome Environment
Because the venue was wood heavy, we deployed Prime Acoustics (Canada) ceiling baffles and installed custom Proper Acoustics custom made wall panels. These baffles and panels were calculated into the early renovation build phase to ensure the room responded correctly for the live service and to ensure a quality streamed broadcast.

2. Lighting Design & Installation
We designed an Elation Lighting System tailored to the dome's unique geometry, ensuring even illumination across the stage and audience areas while taking care to complement the architectural beauty of this space.

3. Video Production & Streaming Gear
For live streaming capabilities, we selected the best tools for unattended operation:

• Cameras: Sony PTZ Cameras (chosen by Nick specifically because they do not require a manned camera operator.)
• Switcher: Blackmagic Design Studio Switcher

4. Electrical & Audio Signal Floor Pocket Integration
One of our most complex tasks, and motivating reason to get involved early in the renovation build phase, was integrating power and audio signal access directly into the floor construction. We designed and installed custom brass floor pockets, routing electrical runs and audio signals through the new build before the contractors applied their final finishes. This required precise coordination with floor tradesmen to ensure nothing was missed during the concrete pour.

5. FOH Integration
We utilized a Midas Heritage Heritage D HD96 console to deliver punchy, clear sound through Fulcrum Acoustic FH Series Horns.
