Challenge: Zero Buffer Zone

Most outdoor amphitheaters sit on open land with natural separation from the public. Cain Park Amphitheater is different. Nestled directly inside a dense residential neighborhood, this venue was surrounded by houses on all sides. There were no buffer zones to absorb sound.

The primary engineering challenge wasn't just making great sound, but also to containing it. The venue needed great, powerful, yet controlled sound. National touring acts required high-fidelity coverage without spilling excess audio into surrounding homes. It required a philosophy of "quality + just enough" rather than mass volume.

Design Strategy

ToneProper partnered closely with Meyer Sound engineers and the venue owner to design a system that prioritized directionality and acoustic containment from day one. We didn't treat this as a standard PA install, we treated it as an acoustic engineering problem wrapped in a live outdoor production environment.

The Line Array: 16 x Meyer Sound Panther, selected for the ability to project sound efficiently and dynamically with minimal off-axis spill.

Low-End Control: Complementing the mains were 6x Meyer Sound 2100 LFC Subwoofers, chosen specifically to handle accurate and dynamic low-end frequencies without taxing the nerves of the neighbors.

Visuals: We deployed a full Proper LED video wall by ToneProper. This brought the production visually alive, greatly contributing to a world class show experience.

The Installation & Tuning

Our team coordinated sound system deployment in sync with venue operations to ensure a seamless integration between the PA and video production. Once our installation was completed, our engineers performed rigorous tuning sessions to dial in the following:

Acoustic Directionality: Ensuring sound arrived at seats without lateral spill into residential structures.

System Integration: Perfecting the timing and levels between the Meyer Sound system and the Proper LED wall for a unified stage experience.

Neighbor Friendly Settings: Optimizing output to satisfy venue management regarding community noise concerns while still delivering a massive show for the seated audience.

The Result

The Cain Park deployment proved that rock solid sound doesn't require isolation, it requires precision. Audiences and clients alike report being "super, super happy" with the system's clarity and impact.
