Nick Moon – Audio Engineer, Producer, and System Designer

Nick Moon is a seasoned audio professional with over two decades of experience spanning studio recording, live sound, mastering, and large-scale AV integration. A 2000 graduate of Full Sail University’s Recording Arts program, Nick began his career in Chicago as a second engineer at Studio Chicago, then moved to Dallas where he worked with a variety of artists, including the band Deep Blue Something.

Eventually settling in Portland, Nick built a thriving independent career, engineering and mixing for a diverse range of artists such as Prince, Gino Vannelli, Liv Warfield, Phutureprimitive, Patrick Lamb, and Unleash the Archers, among many others. His work has taken him across the globe, mixing at premier events like the Jakarta Jazz Festival, Cape Town Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, and even CBS’s Morning Show.

For seven years, Nick toured extensively with Gino Vannelli, bringing high-caliber sound to audiences worldwide. Between tours, he operated his own mixing and mastering studio—Tone Proper Mastering—which later evolved into Tone Proper, a full-service AV integration company specializing in tour systems, performance venues, clubs, and houses of worship.

Currently, Nick leads Tone Proper while actively serving his local church. In the past year, his team delivered touring systems for The Thorn and designed the full PA system at Cain Park Amphitheater in Cleveland. Whether in the studio, on the road, or designing next-generation sound systems, Nick brings an unwavering commitment to excellence, creativity, and the power of great sound.
